March 2, 2011: Donna and I (and Cooper, our Bichon Frise) are about week from the start of our most ambitious RV trip to date. Beginning on Friday, March 11, we plan to travel through the southwest to Pensacola FL in our 27' travel trailer. We will take about a month to get there, then spend about 10 days with our son Kevin, his wife Laura, and our 8 month old grandson, Kai. From there, we will return on a more northerly route over the course of six weeks.
I have been busy getting our rig ready for the long haul. I have built and installed bookcases in the trailer to help eliminate clutter, and we are now busy packing plastic containers with clothing and supplies to deal with just about any weather condition, hopefully excepting snow and tornadoes. Jeez, a trip like this takes a lot of planning and preparation!
The first month of our trip will take us through the desert southwest, through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana. Donna has planned out our route, and has made reservations at most of the parks in which we will be staying. We will be posting pictures and some narrative along the way.
Here are some pictures of our rig.
