We spent the day exploring this ruggedly beautiful national park. It is located south of the city of Twentynine Palms, at an elevation of 3 to 6 thousand feet. The Joshua Trees only grow above 3,000 feet. There are hundreds of smoothly sculpted rock formations in the park - you could spend a week exploring this place. There are old mines, ranches, and Native American petroglyphs. This place is very popular with rock climbers.
